So far this year, lots of craziness has been happening in the N.F.L. No one knows which team or player is good or bad. This year has been partly dissapointing. Teams people expected to be good did not play to expectations, players did not play well, but one of the biggest dissapointments this year through week seven has been the format of the primetime games.
Let's take a look first at the Thursday Night Football games. The first game between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angelos Rams was expected by many people to be the game of the year. Many of those people who expected that were flatout wrong. The Bills destroyed the Rams 31-10. The second game was an actual good game between the Los Angelos Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Chiefs won with a final scroe of 27-24. This was the first game on Amazon Prime Video. The third game between the Clevaland Browns and the Pittsburg Steelers in which the Browns won 29-17 had no reason to be on primetime. The fourth game between the Miami Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals in which the Bengals won 27-15 was a decent game to say the very least. The fifth game, however, was one of the worst primetime games in N.F.L history. This game was between the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos and the Colts won, but neither team scored a touchdown. The final score was 12-9 in overtime. The sixth game between the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears was another dissapointing game in which the Commanders won 12-7. The most recent game between the New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals was not that close even though the score said differently. Cardinals won 42-34.
Then there were the Sunday Night Football primetime games. The first game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys was a low scoring game in which the Bucs won 19-3. The second one between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers was an easy win for the Green Bay Packers. The score was 27-10. The third game between the San Fransisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos was disappointing to say the least. The Broncos won 11-10 and the only reason why they won was because the 49ers quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, ran in the back of his own endzone for a safety and the Broncos took advantage of that and won. The fourth game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was an easy win for the Chiefs. The score was 41-31. The fifth game between the Cincannati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens was another low scoring game in which the Ravens won 19-17 thanks to their kicker, Justin Tucker, making the game winning field goal at the buzzer. The sixth game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles was an okay game in which the Eagles won 26-17. The most recent game between the Pittsburg Steelers and the Miami Dolphins was another low scoring game in which the Dolphins won 16-10.
Lastly, let's take a look at Mondaay Night Football primetime games. The first game between the Denver Broncos and their new quarterback Russell Wilson playing against his old team was a low scoring game. The final score was Seattle 17, Denver 16. The second week had two games. Those two games were the Tennessee Titans taking on the Buffalo Bills and the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Philadelphia Eagles. In the first of two games between the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans, the Bills destroyed the Titans 41-7 and in the second game the Eagles won easily against the Vikings 24-7. The fourth Monday night game between the Dallas Cowbouys and the New York Giants was a decent game in which Dallas won 23-16. The fifth game between the Los Angelos Rams and the San Fransisco 49ers was the 49ers winning against the Rams 24-9. The sixth game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs was a good game in which the Chiefs barely won 30-29. The seventh game between the Denver Broncos and the Los Angelos Chargers was dissapointing. The game went into overtime and none of the teams got one first down on offense. The Chargers won because the Broncos punt returner muffed a punt which got the Chargers in field goal range. Chargers won 19-16. The most recent game between the Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots was the Bears pulling an upset against the Patriots, 33-14.
Many sports fans call this year the worst year for primetime games. And the N.F.L.'s ratings have taken a step down. If the N.F.L. flexed any of the bad primetime games they had, then maybe the fans would see much better matchups. Then maybe, their ratings would take a massive leap up.
