School has started and you don’t know how to kick off your school year strong. Well, no worries! Here are some tips and advice on how to start your school year!
First things first: I very much encourage you to always have a planner with you. Planners help you stay organized and it also helps keep track of whatever needs to be done. Planners work very effectively, especially when school gives you a ton of homework. Studies have shown that students who have a planner deal with stress better, and they also have a good amount of control of their emotions. This also helps your brain to not struggle a lot when you are trying to remember what other homework or study review worksheet you need to complete.
Additionally, make sure to always have a regular sleeping schedule. It is important to get enough sleep so that the next day you can focus and be attentive in class. Without having a consistent sleeping schedule or just sleeping whenever it makes it more difficult to fall asleep on time and even harder to get up early in the morning. This can also cause you to have a painful headache which is hardly the best thing to wake up to in the mornings.
If you have trouble sleeping, then here is some advice I can give you so you can sleep better: Avoid taking naps during the day. Taking naps will give you trouble later on at night when it is actually time for you to sleep. Because you have slept, you feel more active at night and this causes you to want to sleep super late into the morning when you should be ready for school. Also, avoid being on your phone one hour before you sleep. Being on your phone before heading to bed can easily distract you from receiving a good amount of sleep. As such, I very much encourage you to perhaps read a book or listen to music instead.
In addition, make sure you eat daily. I know there are days when you are not hungry and then eventually you skip your breakfast or you study through your lunch. Regularly spaced meals or snacks are important. Studies have shown that students who don’t have food in their stomachs are more likely to have a lower grade. Without food, you will have trouble paying attention during class. As well as getting your work done on time because of how hungry you are. This will make you fall behind in classes and eventually receive a failing grade.
