Season Opener: Upcoming meet at Boone Central on September 2
HAC Predictions: Top 5
Coaches Expectations: CHS head Cross Country coach Stacy Smith has great expectations for all her runners. “I would like to see the team continue to improve daily, stay healthy, set lofty goals for themselves and work hard to reach those goals.” Smith would also like to see the team finish top 5 in the HAC - an improvement from last year’s 8th place finish.
Top Runners: Seniors Noah Lawrence and Alex Ienn have personal records of 16 and 17 minutes respectively for the 5000m jaunt. Both of these boys look to be top runners for their team. Junior Liberty Larsen and Sophomore Hailey Kropatsch are the girls’ team standouts, both recording 21-minute finishes for the event. Each of these runners are shooting for the ultimate goal of finishing among the top 15 runners in their district to earn a state meet berth. The district meet will be Thursday, October 13 at what is sure to be a scenic venue that has yet to be determined.
Athlete to Watch: Junior Heath Dalke and Sophomore Hannah Kropatsch who ranked 28th and 23rd in Districts respectively are definitely athletes to keep your eye on. They are just two of the many other cross country runners that are making their way to being top runners.
