FBLA
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is the largest business Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) in the world. Used to inspire students and the growing community, FBLA teaches students to be mindful of the community/society through career and leadership experience. Sponsor Ms. Kari Tunik states, “To me, FBLA encourages students to serve, educate and lead. Students develop and grow their leadership skills in a positive way…We work to find ways to get involved in our school and community to leave an impact and help with various events and projects.”
FBLA attended the annual State Leadership Conference (SLC) in person for the first time since 2019. At this year’s conference, Freshman Caitlin Campbell was chosen to participate in the National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Introduction to Information Technology this summer. On the topic of recognition, 6 individuals received blue ribbons to wear throughout the conference for a variety of reasons.
If you’re looking to support FBLA, a fundraiser is currently in motion. Snack Stick sales are taking place in Ms. Tunick’s classroom (G220). In addition, FBLA is currently making fleece blankets to donate to the Rescue Mission. They also completed a fundraiser through “Believe Kids,” and donated canned goods to the food pantry last fall. A cupcake sale was also extremely successful, selling out in a day!
Like in many situations and organizations, everything seems new in the face of COVID-19. New members are getting experiences that former members may not have had or are also experiencing for the first time. One new thing is the resurrection of the can and bottle recycling program which is a sure benefit not only to the school, but to the planet as well! It has been running smoothly with the help of other CHS clubs and the constant support of our very own scholars.
FBLA has had many accomplishments throughout the year and will continue to as we approach the end of the school year. Anyone itching to be more involved with the community should consider attending an informational meeting or contacting Ms. Tunik regarding joining FBLA.
