Game One Recap:

It was a tough night for Villanova and Kansas. The Wildcats needed their top player Justin Moore to score some major points in order to even threaten a top-seeded Jayhawks team. After a long ride to the national semifinals, Villanova fell well short of the win, making their exit from the tournament after their 81-65 defeat.

The Jayhawks were propelled to victory by a few star performances. David McCormack had mostly all 3 pointers and left the team with 21 points as did Ochai Agbaji.

Game Two Recap:

For the last time in a storied 48 year career, retiring Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski made his exit from March Maddness after a close contest with Hubert Davis’ North Carolina Tarheels. This had to be the most intense game of the season for both of these teams and was definitely an unbelievable experience for Duke fans. While his final game may have been an 81-77 loss, Duke fans will no doubt remember Krzyzewski’s 1,202 total wins, 13 Final Four appearances, and 5 National Championships.

The star players for the Tarheel team were 6’ 3” Caleb Love with a team high 28 points and Armando Bacot contributing 11 points. Love has been a big impact on the UNC team and is known to “carry the team on his back.” Not only that, Bacot is known to set solid screens and serve as an outstanding point guard for the team.

Now, that we know who are some key players to watch, the stage is set to decide a national champion!

National Championship:

April 4, 2022:

North Carolina

Kansas

Recap:

As March Madness wrapped up, the second and the third most winning programs took the court to crown a national championship. This game was not like your ordinary championship game. North Carolina thought they had it in the bag when they left for the locker room up 40-25 at halftime. Well, right after showing up for the second half, the Jayhawks made some incredible history by cementing their 15 point comeback. This was the biggest comeback in championship history.

Sadly, North Carolina’s star players were playing on bad ankles for majority of the game, making it hard to push their team to a win. Towards the end of the game, it was really coming down to the wire after North Carolina could not keep up with Kansas’s speed. Overall, Kansas pulled through and was ready to take that national championship trophy back home, winning 72-69. I do not think this will be the last time we see the Jayhawks in a national championship.

Even if your college basketball team did not finish how you wanted it to, it is important to appreciate that we have the entertainment. 11 more months until the next year’s March Madness!
