We all know that plastic toys may be unnecessary or end up in the landfill, but it’s good to know that huge companies like Mattel are now using bioplastic and making their products more sustainable.
They debuted new certified CarbonNeutral toys this week from their popular MEGA BLOKS line for tots, and recently released a Matchbox Tesla Roadster, its first die-cast vehicle made from 99% recycled materials, which is currently sold out.
These are moves toward the company’s goal to achieve 100% recycled, recyclable, or bio-based plastic materials in all its toys and packaging by 2030.

Person #1: Hey__________________have you ever been to the Louvre (say Loov) in Paris?
Person #2: Why no I have not. The last 2 years I have been locked down due to the pandemic and my trips to Europe had to be curtailed…… Why do you ask?
#1: Well if you need a more local “Art Fix” why don’t you consider dropping by the Public Library across the creek to see the District Art Show. It is opening right after school Friday and will be on exhibit anytime the Public Library is having their normal hours. See the best of your peers artwork from this year, works from elementary, middle and high school. It will be on exhibit through May 5th.
#2: You mean I do not need to travel to Paris to see great art?
#1: No…its right here in Ephrata…….Oh…. and did you hear that they will have light snacks for the opening reception from 3:30-5:00 Friday. See you there.
