Change - it's a constant in people's lives. Many people hate change and hate what comes with it. However, change can be good. This year the CHS Girl’s Tennis team is looking at all kinds of change.
This year, long-time head coach David Licari was replaced with former assistant Kimberly Leibhart. This is Leibhart’s second year coaching tennis at CHS, but she has coached a year in Texas and three years in Missouri.
Leibhart hopes to coach many more seasons here at CHS, and is excited to be the coach this year. The tennis team is getting a lot of interest, especially in the new and incoming freshman. Leibhart is optimistic that the upcoming season will go very well this year.
Leibhart’s goals this year is to “help our returning seniors have their best seasons yet and to help all our girls improve from last year.” For the returning seniors down to the new freshman, change is constant, and it's the good kind.
Seniors Macy Szatko, Anna Ragonese, Joslyn Pensick, Abby Loeffelholz, Logan Kapels, Myriam Cisneros, and Nevaeh Boulton are all returning players. Kapels and Loeffeholz are the two top returning varsity players as well.
The girl’s tennis season officially starts on February 28th. The first week, coach Leibhart will be assessing all the girls who would like to be on the team and make her decision on who will make the team. In the past, this assessment has included an evaluation on hits and serves, practice matches, and a conditioning test.
All in all, the girl’s tennis team is looking to have a great season. If you are interested in being on the team, keep your ears open for tryouts. If you have any questions, contact coach Leibhart leibhartk@discoverers.org.
