She Said / She Said: Best Romantic Movies
Olivya Thege & Carla Gardea
You don’t have to feel lonely when you live in a world full of cringe love stories and cheesy rom-coms. So whether you have a special someone or a four-legged friend to keep you company, grab your ultra-soft tissues and a box of discount chocolates to watch the best romance movies this side of heaven has ever seen.
Olivya-
If you are looking for a series of romantic love movies to watch with family, friends, or even your significant other, then I have a few movies for you. To begin, there is no greater love story than the one and only “The Notebook”. This tear-jerker of a movie depicts two people so in love with one another, that even the longest separation cannot end the love. They went through so much throughout their years of knowing each other, you’ll have to watch the rest of the movie to see how their love story plays out.
Now, if you want a movie to sob to with your loved ones, then I recommend watching “A Walk to Remember”. You may be wondering, why is this movie going to make me cry? Well, I don’t want to spoil it for you, but the crazy romance between two 18-year-olds that have to overcome obstacles to be together will show that love works no matter what. All I am saying is that this heartfelt movie really does show that opposites attract through sickness and in health.
As we go down the list of movies, this might be the one to make you use at least twenty tissues. The Netflix movie “All the Bright Places” begins with a shy girl (Violet as played by Elle Fanning) who wants nothing to do with anyone due to the passing of her sister. However, this boy (Theodore as played by Justice Smith) was on a late-night run when he started meeting up with Violet on the side of the road at a local bridge where she listens to her music in solitude. Although Violet has been through so much grief, Theodore is willing to take her on dates, show her how to live her life to the fullest, and become the best person she can be. As time goes on, these two start to realize that they definitely need each other in their lives.
To be honest, I do not really care if you choose Carla’s movies over mine, but just know mine are always going to be better! Anyways I really hope you take time to watch these wonderful movies and find a new favorite to add to your movie list.

Young love in the face of adversity is about as classic as it gets. If you’re looking for a classic “Will they? Won’t they?” love story, put on the movie “Flipped”. Besides being my favorite movie of all time, it's a film about two opposites. Set in the 60s, a girl (Julie Baker as played by Madeline Carroll) is far more in love with a boy than the boy (Bryce Loski as played by Callan McAuliffe ) is with her. Julie has been obsessed with Bryce since he moved into town in second grade, and she is determined to win him over. As Julie searches for who she is and Bryce proves to be unreliable, she falls out of love and Bryce begins a journey of redemption. It's a heartfelt comedy that will leave you wondering if these two kids will ever get together.
A movie exploring the struggles of love and adventures in self-identity, “Love, Simon” is a prime example of how utterly confusing adolescence can be. “Love, Simon” follows a boy attempting to come to terms with his sexuality by secretly emailing another boy with a hidden identity. As he falls for his unrevealed forbidden love, he gets thrown into situations both good and bad, making it harder for him to keep his secret. This feature is a thrilling, suspenseful, life-changing story that’ll leave you in tears.
Need more heartbreak than being alone can offer you? “The Fault in Our Stars” can guarantee you that and more. Hazel Lancaster (as played by Shailene Woodley) has lung cancer and attends a support group to please her mother. At this support group, she meets a witty, humorous boy named Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort) with whom she shares a love of books. As they seek to discover the meaning of romance, heartbreak and hope it’s a race against time to do the things they’ve always wanted to do.
Even if romance films aren’t your cup of tea you should make it a goal to watch these 6 heart-wrenching movies.
