CHS Rolls into the Second Year Bowling Season

The bowling team is on the prowl and ready to strike. The CHS Bowling Team has been through a few tournaments and has proven to be a fun and interesting sport.

Only a few tournaments remain and it's bound to be good. Westbrook Lanes will host a final regular season match against Boone Central on the 24th and Districts will also be held on February 2nd at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln. The teams competing in the A5 District - Columbus, Boone Central, Columbus Lakeview, Grand Island High, Grand Island Northwest and Seward - are all hoping to advance to the Team State Championships. The top 8 individual bowlers will advance to a singles championship, also held at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, February 8th.

This year, CHS’s current rival is Fremont High, which has shown to be extremely competitive. It seems an upcoming rival could be in-town rival Columbus Lakeview in its first year being a part of NSAA Bowling.  Both squads are hoping this rivalry will propel both teams to new heights on the lanes.

Some players deserving of some recognition are seniors Alex Holdsworth, Makayla Prather and Brianna Eikhoff. “These 3 girls have truly been great competitors and teammates,” said head coach Mr. James Henderson. One of the main goals for the team is to find more girls to expand the competition and the program with that, other members of the girl's team include Emma Moore, Milo Quini and Mckenzie Hernandez.

Be sure to go to as many tournaments as possible to support our players!
