Preparing a Pot of Perfect Potato Soup
If you are looking for joyful activities to do on a cold December day then I have the best idea yet. First, go get a few warm fuzzy blankets and wrap yourself up like a burrito. Next, turn on some Netflix or Hallmark movies to satisfy your holiday cravings. To go along with that, go make some delicious hot chocolate. WAIT WAIT! I’m not quite done yet…. To finish off your day, make a good bowl of potato soup.
What you need:
-
Crockpot
-
A large spoon
Ingredients:
-
30 ounces of shredded, frozen hash browns
-
14.5 ounces of chicken broth
-
30 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup of chopped onion or you may use onion powder.
-
1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
-
2.8 ounces of bacon bits of your choice.
-
8 ounce package of cream cheese (do not use fat-free)
Steps: (ONLY put these ingredients in the crockpot)
-
Pour the 14.5 ounces of chicken broth
-
Next, dump 30 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese
-
Add 30 ounces of shredded hash browns
-
Take your 1/2 cup of chopped onions and 1/4 tablespoon of black pepper and add them to the crockpot.
-
Lastly, add 2 1/2 - 3 ounces of your bacon bits to the mixture.
Intermission:
As we wait for our lovely potato soup, shouldn’t we get to watch our movies? We might as well start to binge a few movies because waiting for your ingredients to simmer for about 6 hours can be very long. Don’t forget to refill your hot chocolate and don’t forget to throw your favorite blankets in the dryer for a few minutes to make them extra warm and fuzzy.
6 hours later…..
-
Lastly, combine your 8-ounce package of cream cheese with your first ingredients and mix only for a little amount of time.
-
Let the new mixture with the cream cheese simmer for about 1 hour
-
Enjoy!
Overall, potato soup might not be everyone’s go-to cuisine for a chilly day in December, but it can for sure pacify your growly stomach. This potato soup is definitely a good meal to store and bring for lunch over a week of school just like I do! Hopefully, you and your family have a wonderful time watching movies and eating a delightful dish.
