A lot of craziness has been happening in the N.F.L. so far this year, and it is very hard to determine which teams or players are doing good around the league.  So, let’s take a look at one of the weakest divisions in football: the AFC South.  This division consists of the 7-2 Tennessee Titans, the 4-5 Indianapolis Colts, the 2-6 Jaguars, and the 1-8 Houston Texans.  As you can see, the AFC South is not good even with signings, trades, etc.

Let’s take a look at the best team in this division, the Tennessee Titans.  This year, they traded for one of the best wide receivers in the N.F.L., Julio Jones.  So far this year, he has played five games, missed three games with a hamstring injury, and has just 21 receptions for 336 yards and 0 touchdowns.  As you can see, he has been disappointing.  However, the Titans recently won five straight games including a big win over the L.A. Rams without their best player, Derrick Henry.  The Indianapolis Colts have been at least competitive even though they have a record of 4-5.  Carson Wentz has bounced back after his worst year with the Philadelphia Eagles, but other than that, their defense has been kind of disappointing.  After being 10^th in overall defense last year, they dropped to the 22^nd best defense.  They were also 10^th in scoring defense last year, but this year they are in the middle with the 16^th best scoring defense.

The 2-6 Jacksonville Jaguars, after coming off of a big win last Sunday against the 5-3 Buffalo Bills, have been terrible for the most part this year.  So far, their rookie quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, has thrown for eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.  As you can see, those are not good numbers.  Their first-year head coach, Urban Myer, has done a terrible job of trying to help Trevor Lawrence succeed.  Meanwhile, the 1-8 Houston Texans are one of the worst teams in the N.F.L. currently.  Earlier this year, their star quarterback, Deshaun Watson, requested a trade from the Houston Texans after the Texans traded his best wide receiver, Deandre Hopkins, and released all pro pass rusher J.J. Watt.  During the conversation on whether Watson was going to get traded, there were over 20 lawsuits involving sexual harassment against Watson.  This year the Texans have not played Watson and their only win was against the Jaguars in week one.  After that, they lost eight straight games.  Their starting quarterback, Tyrod Taylor, got injured which left the Texans with Davis Mills.

Many sportscasters call this division one of the worst and weakest division in the N.F.L. this year.  If the N.F.L. season ended today, the Titans would not only win the division but also clinch the number 1 seed in the entire A.F.C.  The Texans and the Jaguars have no chance to make the playoffs or win the division.  The Colts could make it as a wild card team, but it’s going to be tough for them because of their schedule.
