Teachers, today begins our Mini-THON May Month. A teddy bear has been hidden in a classroom. The goal is to not have the Teddy Bear in your classroom by the end of the month. You can use students as well as another teachers/admin to transport the bear to another teacher’s classroom. The bear must be in a visible spot (not in cabinets). By the end of every week, if you have the bear, please contact your Mini-THON Representative to let them know. This way, we can keep track of the bear. Today Mini-THON is holding “May the 4th Be With You” day. Participating teachers will teach in the dark tomorrow, while students wear glow sticks.

In today's news, a town in Japan has used an emergency COVID relief fund to build a giant squid statue. The statute is 43 feet long and lies in the town of Noto, where flying squid is a delicacy. It used about $228,000 of the emergency fund to build. No one really knows why they built a random statute of a squid but some people believe it is to bring back tourists after the pandemic. In other news, on this day in history, in 1715, a French manufacturer debuts the first folding umbrella.
