Teachers, today begins our Mini-THON May Month. A teddy bear has been hidden in a classroom. The goal is to not have the Teddy Bear in your classroom by the end of the month. You can use students as well as another teachers/admin to transport the bear to another teacher’s classroom. The bear must be in a visible spot (not in cabinets). By the end of every week, if you have the bear, please contact your Mini-THON Representative to let them know. This way, we can keep track of the bear. Tomorrow Mini-THON is holding “May the 4th Be With You” day. Participating teachers will teach in the dark tomorrow, while students wear glow sticks. Glow sticks are still available for purchase during lunches today for a $1 donation.

In today's news, the Italian government has approved a plan to furnish Rome's ancient Colosseum with a new floor, giving visitors the chance to stand where gladiators once fought. Culture Minister Dario Franceschini announced the project to build the wooden, retractable floor on Sunday. At this time, the 2,000-year-old monument has no floor. It was removed by archaeologists in the 19th Century, exposing the underground network of tunnels where gladiators and animals were held before the Roman blood sports began. Mr Franceschini said the "extraordinary" new floor would allow visitors to "see the majesty of the Colosseum" from its center. The floor is expected to be finished by 2023.
