“Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” is finally here! It was released at midnight on April 9th 2021. For many, the excitement comes because they can finally relate to lyrics they first heard in 2008. Compared to the original, the banjo seems to be more in tune. It also has a clearer and louder sound throughout the song. The refrain also has a stronger feeling to it; it really makes you want to scream the lyrics. The way the song moves is the perfect speed. Overall the song is more confident and really accentuates Taylor Swift’s older mature voice.

This song made me ugly cry. The older version also made me cry, but, with the re released song, I really felt the emotion that Swift was trying to express. With the little changes that Taylor made, it really brings out the true intentions of the song. It might be my favorite song on the album!

The first vault song brought out feelings I didn’t know I had! Maren Morris’s background vocals really took this song to the next level. She added a lot of depth to the song, bringing it into a lower range. Although she was a great addition to the song, I wish she had more of a role. We will never truly know the reasoning behind some of the things Taylor does, we can just simply trust her. 

22. “Mr. Perfectly Fine (From The Vault)”

This song is so happy but so sad at the same time. It is an upbeat song about heartbreak, which doesn’t sound like a logical thing to be able to do, and Taylor pulled it off! I wish it would have been released originally instead of some of the other songs, but I am so thankful that we finally have it! 

23. “We Were Happy (From The Vault)”

For some reason this song gives me “Debut Taylor'' vibes.  As such, it makes me feel like it doesn’t belong on “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)”. It also feels like there could possibly be a connection between “Our Song” and “We Were Happy (From the Vault)”. I am taking stars off because it does not feel like it matches this album. I do not know what it is about the song, but it sounds different. It could be that Taylor Swift took some creative liberties when recording this song since it had never been heard before. Regardless, in my opinion it is the weak song of the album and might not meet everyone’s expectations. 

24. “That’s When (From The Vault) (Featuring Keith Urban)”

Unlike other songs with guest stars, this song gives Keith Urban a really nice cameo. It is a really good song and the lyrics are genius, but I feel like my standards are so high after hearing “Mr. Perfectly Fine (From the Vault)” and “You All Over Me (From the Vault)” that I cannot love it as much. 

25. “Don’t You (From The Vault)”

It is crazy to think that the vault songs were written at the same time as the original songs. They are so mature sounding. Again, they do not match the sound of the original songs but they are still amazing, and, as always, the lyrics are brilliant. 

26. “Bye Bye Baby (From The Vault)”

If you told me this song was written at the same time as “Hey Stephen” I would believe you. It matches the feel of the original songs. All of the vault songs are different, and they are probably different from when they were first written, but we would never know. Depending on the song, there are different aspects that you need to account for, songs like “That’s When (From the Vault)” and “Don’t You (From the Vault)” have different needs, which cause them to stray from the original aesthetic of the album. Along with that, Taylor’s writing style has changed, and she knows how to make the songs more enjoyable for the listener. 

27. Bonus Track: “Love Story (Taylor’s Version) - Elvira Remix”

I enjoy the way Taylor can bring new life to a classic by simply changing up the background music. With this song she gave it more of a pop feeling. She took out the pieces of the song that made it classic, like the guitar and banjo, and added more bass. It has more of a breathy feeling and it really works with the pop sound. 

Overall, the entire album is absolutely amazing and deserves five stars. This album is a must own for all Swifties. If you like singer-songwriter music, then this is the album for you. You can get the album from Amazon, Target, or the Taylor Swift website.
