2020’s been quite a year, right? Now, you have the opportunity to leave your mark for future generations so they can get a taste of what 2020 was. On Thursday during Mountaineer Block, we will be creating items to add to a time capsule (to be opened several years from now) that showcases some of the differences this year brought for us. Have something you would like to add? Maybe a photo, a concert program, a newspaper article? Bring it in on Thursday December 17 to your homeroom. Thanks for making this mark on history!

And now over to ____________ with the news

NEWS INTRO
--------------------------
In today's news the FDA has recommended to approve the Pfizer vaccine in the US. A 23 man panel met yesterday to discuss the vaccine and they came to the conclusion that the benefits outweigh the costs. The vaccine still needs to be formally approved by the FDA's vaccine chief, which is expected in the coming days. Alex Azar, the US health secretary, said that we could have the vaccine within days and could be giving it to the most vulnerable by next week. Pfizer plans to have 6.4 million doses ready for its first rollout for the US.
Also in the news, Governor Wolf has made another round of temporary closures on certain indoor activities including dining and extracurriculars such as sports. The ban goes into effect on Saturday and extends until Jan 4. He has repeatedly asked Pennsylvanians to limit contact with anyone outside their immediate household. It will be 2 weeks until we can notice a shift in infection rates so let's hope that this can drop rates enough till the vaccine roll-outs can help.
