WILL #BOYCOTTHAMILTON MAKE IT EASIER TO GET A TICKET?
While attending a recent performance of New York Broadway smash Hamilton, Vice President-elect Mike Pence became the recipient of a onstage, curtain call monologue delivered by Brandon Victor Dixon, who plays Vice President Aaron Burr in the musical. After identifying Pence in the audience, Dixon said, “We, sir—we—are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet…we truly hope that this show has inspired you to…work on behalf of all of us.” Upon report, the President-elect himself fired off a series of trademark, off-the-cuff tweets, demanding the cast of Hamilton “apologize!”. Trump supporters immediately followed suit, coining and trending the hashtag #BoycottHamilton.

TINTIN DRAWING FETCHES BIG BUCKS
A single page of artwork from Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi (also known as Herge), has set a world auction record for comics after eliciting a $1.64 million bid in Paris. International auction house Artcurial, who hosted the sale, originally estimated the book to draw between $875,000 to $1.15 million. The page is an original art plate from a 1954 edition of Remi’s Tintin book, a light-hearted adventure series about a boy detective and his dog. Tintin remains one of the comic world’s all-time most popular books, having sold in excess of 200 million copies in nearly 100 different languages across the globe.

GILMORE GIRLS PREMIERE BRINGS BACK EVERYONE!
Last Friday’s release party for the Netflix revival of former WB and CW hit series Gilmore Girls drew quite a crowd, including more than 25 actors from throughout the show’s seven-year history. The new, four-chapter installment, entitled A Year In The Life, comes after last year’s series re-release on Netflix led creator Amy Sherman-Palladino to pursue a partnership with the streaming provider. Sherman-Palladino and her husband Dan Palladino, who wrote, directed and executive produced all four new episodes together, have yet to confirm if A Year In The Life marks the end of the series, or the beginning of a new chapter.

KANYE COURTS CONTROVERSY. AGAIN.
Self-possessed pop star and cultural provocateur Kanye West is at it again, though some are claiming his latest round of odd behavior is less about promotion and expression, and more about mental health. The controversy began last week as West announced mid-show that he didn’t vote, but would have voted for Donald Trump, then continued Saturday, when only 30 minutes into a performance, West delivered an onstage rant aimed at Jay Z and Beyonce, then abruptly ended his show. Sunday, West canceled another show three hours before start time, and Monday morning, pulled the plug on the 21 remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour, including two New Years shows at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
