The French club had its first official meeting October 27, 2016; that meeting essentially started the French Club’s development. In order to become a member of the French Club, you must have taken at least “French I” or higher, “intro to French” does not provide eligibility. Currently, there aren’t many members in the club; but hopefully, there will be more members joining throughout the year. The members of the French club get together once a week after school from 2:30 to 3:00. The goal of the French Club is not to just speak French but to teach kids about French culture. Kids will learn about French foods, traditions, and the types of things that go on in France.
The French club has a type of internal government; the members can elect presidents, vice presidents, and secretaries. In order to be elected as one of these offices, you must be in French III or higher. The president of the club appoints tasks, organizes events, sets goals, sets up meetings, and motivates the members. The vice president tracks the attendance of members and helps the president with planning events. The secretary schedules meetings and collects and organizes funds for the club. The president is Austin Winchell; the vice president is Maya Deroba, and the secretary is Amando Borne.
