There are many things that throughout my childhood have affected me and molded me into the person I am today. But, by far the most important item was my portable DVD player, to be more specific, the Polaroid pdv-0700. This magical device has saved me through many a car ride and given my younger self never-ending fun.

            Back in 2006, on Black Friday, my grandmother and my mom went shopping and bought me a portable Polaroid DVD player. Come Christmas day, it was mine. I used it all the time, watching such movies as Over the Hedge and Hoodwinked along with countless episodes of Scooby Doo and SpongeBob. I will never forget the countless hours after school at my grandparents’ house, snuggled up in a pillow fort watching countless movies on my trusty Polaroid.

            After a flood in my grandfather’s basement, I found the little Polaroid. It had sat there idle for 4 years. I plugged it in, and after two minutes it was on, the Polaroid logo in bright letter up on the screen. Sadly, though, the water from the flood damaged the disc reader and my DVDs would no longer play. I immediately went on eBay, found the same make and model, and bought it for $35. It has been one of the best purchases of my life. 

           The trusty Polaroid has been a pleasure and molded me into the hopeless movie lover I am today, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
