Monday January 7th was an exciting day for all of Juniata County. The two juniata schools went head to head in a to a cross county rivalry that draws in the whole county for one night. East Juniata boys basketball went into Juniata High School to take on the Indians of Juniata.  Every year the Tigers and Indians look forward to this game for sure. Both teams get to meet twice a year and neither of them wants to lose any of the two matches. It’s safe to say that whoever wins the games have bragging rights over the other team.
   This Monday however, Juniata came out on top of East Juniata. Both teams put up a strong effort to beat the other but Juniata came out in the end. East Juniata and Juniata came out clashing hard as neither team would budge. Juniata however opened the gates with Bryson Clark scoring threes left and right along with the help of Devan Neilman. When it looked as if Juniata would pull away at the end of the first half the Tigers fought back and took the lead with a scoring wave by Wayne Dressler.  This same push continued through the 3rd quarter and at the end of the 3rd the Tigers found themselves only down 10. Then in the 4th, EJ pushed the right and managed to go ahead by one point. They would only lose the game by two points, and at the end, it was anyone’s game to win. Overall for a team that only won 5 games last year, this is a win to go into the rival school gym and be in a close game with last year’s TVL runner ups.
