I just moved to EJ last year which had some positives and negatives, however I think the one thing that bothered me most especially coming from a school where school spirit mattered was that at EJ there pretty much was no school spirit. That started to change close to the end of my junior year. From the point where I started to notice it was that Mr. Shoop had students helping him paint the upper hallways with a cool tiger paw print theme that represented EJ. In addition, they started to update the library and made it more “homey” which was a great way to add to the spirit of the school. However, that was just a start, this year things have been really looking good! There are a bunch of new positive as well as motivational quotes that are painted all around the school along with other painting like our school mascot, the tiger! Also, even sports teams have been getting a lot of school spirit. For example, at the EJ vs. Juniata game pretty much everyone had participated in the white out along with cheering the whole game! Another thing is that EJ has decided that twice a month we will meet with different clubs like cooking, staining glass, and sewing which is a great way to get everyone in the school from staff to student body involved in something. I won’t be here next year, but I hope to see the spirit continue in different ways throughout the school!
