Did you know there are more slaves today than any period in human history? What if you could have the power to do something about it? The Dressember Foundation is an amazing organization that works towards ending slavery and human trafficking. I participated in this movement last year, and was so impacted by it. It served as a reminder to me that although this sickening thing happens, we have the power to give a voice to those who can’t be heard. Although wearing a dress everyday of December doesn’t end this trafficking, it does bring awareness. As a nation, we need to bring awareness to this horrible epidemic. This is more than just a fundraiser, it’s a movement that has the potential to save someone’s life. This past December, East Juniata High School students, teachers, and faculty members participated in a “Formal Friday” to help bring awareness to Human Trafficking. The ladies wore dresses, and the men wore ties. We also collected donations at the beginning of the school day. Our grand total was $363.31!!!
Thank you to everyone who participated and donated!
