On Nov. 5, the Warriors defeated the Hazelton Area Cougars 2-0 in the District 2 championship game, clinching the first ever district title for the girls’ soccer program.
In the first half, shots were made by senior Taylor Randazzo and junior Faith Fucetola. Towards the beginning of the first half, junior Reilly Henry scored, putting the Warriors ahead 1-0 with an assist by Fucetola. In the second half, sophomore Lexi Sickler added another goal to end the game.
The defense played a solid game, preventing many shots from entering the goal. Senior goalie Stef O’Grady and juniors Shelby Brittain, Haley Korfmann, Ciera Cavallaro and Jillian Reich all contributed to the Warriors’ defensive success.
“There’s nothing like winning a game, but winning this game was one of the best feelings. I am so proud of our team and the hard work we put in to finally win the district title, which was the highlight of my birthday,” said Brittain.
On Oct. 26, the Warriors were defeated by Williamsport 4-0 in the District 2-4 sub-regional championship game, which knocked DV out of the state playoff tournament.
