Diana Frances Spencer. Who is that, you may ask? You may know her as Diana Windsor, or she is most commonly known as Princess Diana of Wales. I’m sure you have heard of Princess Diana; however, do you really know her? Of course you know she was married to the Prince of England Charles Windsor, Prince of Wales, making her daughter-in-law to Queen Elizabeth. Many have thought that her time as a royal was great, but in her opinion that was just not the case.
Princess Diana was born July 1, 1961. Her parents were wealthy people and were of British nobility due to their royal ancestry. Since Diana was born into a wealthy, high class family, she was sent to get her education in England and Switzerland, which would be a great advantage to her in life. In 1981, she married into the royal family by marrying Prince Charles of Wales. After they got married they had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Throughout her life as a royal, she wanted to give back. She was extremely passionate about charity and helping others. Princess Diana was not afraid to help those who needed help, and she was not afraid of the backlash that she may have gotten from others, including as her royal family or the media.
One of Princess Diana’s favorite organizations to work with was ICBL, or otherwise known as International Campaign to Ban Landmines. Another one of her absolutely cherished organizations was Charities at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Throughout her life as a royal and a public figure, she was constantly in the headlines regarding her spouse and children. However, most of the headlines she was involved in were not as true as people wanted to believe. Diana was a humble, hard-working, intelligent woman who had a heart that inspired her to do so much for charity. Her hard work and dedication was cut short when she tragically passed away in an automobile accident on August 31, 1997.
Even though she is gone, her acts of kindness and willingness to put others before her is now carried out by people. Her two sons William and Harry, along with William’s wife Kate, now do charity work, helping to keep their mother's legacy alive. Most people may know Princess Diana as a pretty princess who was misunderstood by many, many people. However, Diana was a hard-working, independent woman who has a heart of gold and would do anything she could possibly do to help people.
