ONE YEAR SINCE THE BATACLAN ATTACKS IN PARIS
One year after a terrorist attack during a rock show claimed 90 innocent lives, Paris concert venue Bataclan has reopened its doors. Former Police lead singer Sting headlined Saturday’s reopening event, which was attended by many of the victims’ loved one as well as survivors from the 2015 attack. Survivor Aurélien Perrin, whose friend Nicolas Berthier was killed during the attack, told the Associated Press, “I came alone tonight. It’s very emotional, as I keep getting flashbacks of that night…I’m here because it’s important to finally finish a concert that was never allowed to end…for all the 90 people who died.” A new hall logo and massive interior renovations accompanied the reopening, with Bataclan president Jérôme Langlet commenting “France and the entire world will see that the Bataclan is alive again.”

GIANT EARTHQUAKE HIT NEW ZEALAND
Over the weekend, New Zealand’s South Island suffered a violent 7.8 magnitude earthquake, aftershocks of which could be felt as far away as the nation’s capital Wellington, on the North Island. Two hours after the initial quake, a resultant tsunami slammed the east coast of the country, leaving two dead. Commenting on the extent of the damage, Prime Minister John Key indicated little direct communication has yet been established with the hardest hit regions, such as Kaikoura and Culverden, and that the death toll could soon rise. Monday morning, as aftershocks continued throughout the region, government safety crews were dispatched to evaluate closed schools and public transit systems for structural damage.

A NEW KARDASHIAN IS HERE
Two days after being birthed in front of an E! channel camera crew, Dream Renee Kardashian, the newborn daughter of Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna, has been granted her first Twitter account—which launched with a close-up of her breastfeeding. Chyna also has a 3-year-old son with rapper Tyga, who is currently dating Kardashian’s younger sister Kylie. The star couple went public with their relationship last January, four years after Kardashian’s high-profile romance with singer Rita Ora ended. Kardashian’s high-profile new parenting stands in stark contrast to sister Kim’s, who has maintained relative social media silence after giving birth to son Saint, her second child with Kanye West.
