This past December, East Juniata hosted an event called Winter Fest for elementary students. This event included games, activities, crafts, and snacks for the kids. There was a snowball toss, cookie decorating, craft stands, a picture booth, and even a bounce house. The East Juniata National Honor Society students signed up to help set up these activities for the kids and to be there and help as needed throughout the day.
I am so glad that I got the opportunity to be a part of this event. My friends, Bree and Marin, and I set up a stand where the children could write letters to Santa about their Christmas wishes. Some students wrote longs letters and others just drew a picture showing something that they love. This was a blessing to be a part of because I got to see what the kids were passionate about. I loved being able to talk to them and get to know them because I realized that even though they’re young, they are very creative and compassionate. Overall, this was a great experience and I hope that there are more events like this in the future.
