As idiotically impossible it seems, I recently broke my own finger in my car door.
I was on my way to school when I decided to stop and get a bagel at a local shop. Upon exiting my car, I realized that I had accidently shut my middle finger in my car door. Thinking very little of it since it did not hurt at all, I chose to go in and get my breakfast anyway. It wasn't until I was inside looking at how my mangled finger was dripping blood onto my money that I realized how bad it actually was.
Not knowing what else to do, I drove to school. I waited about twenty minutes to see the nurse when I got there since I was so early and she immediately told me to go get it checked out. Once I went to the hospital, I was x-rayed and examined. They determined that I had actually broken the tip of my finger and would need several stitches to keep the nail intact for the time being.
I went back to school a couple hours later with a splint, a plethora of medications to prevent infections, a throbbing finger, and an embarrassing story to tell my friends. Currently, I am a day away from having my stitches removed and have learned to be more careful when shutting doors.
