Big Red football beat the Pine Grove Cardinals for their first win of the season and head coach, Gary Klingensmith, earned his 300th win after 50 years of coaching Juniata Football. Big Red played their hardest on the muddy, wet, field, we know as Dietrick Field, to earn their win. Before the game, the Juniata Indians had a score of 0-5, while the Pine Grove Cardinals had a score of 4-1. Although the Cardinals had a better record, our Indians went out to play their best. They ended up beating Pine Grove 28-14.
Freshman, Jacob Condo, filled in for senior, Jeremiah Parson, as quarterback while Parson was recovering from a foot contusion. Condo threw for 3 touchdowns and scored one. One of the driving forces that inspired Condo to win was Bryson Clark. Clark returned to the team after healing from an injury. He caught 2 touchdown passes that night. The win was a huge milestone in Juniata Football history. You could tell that Klingensmith was happy for his players and their hard work. Many people rushed to the field to congratulate and celebrate the team and the coaches.
As a cheerleader, I enjoy going to the games and supporting the guys as they play. It was an honor to cheer for them as they got their first win of the season and coach Klingensmith’s 300th win. As cheerleaders, we celebrate their victories and we give encouragement for their losses. I love being on the sidelines, under the lights. I love being a Juniata cheerleader. It was definitely a night to remember for Juniata Football.
