Overalls are making a comeback this season, and they are not just your typical denim style. Students have been walking the halls of DV wearing overalls of all different styles.
Overalls first started out as a symbol of revolt. In 1920, men who were in the Overalls Club Movement wore overalls to protest against the expensive cost of living.
Nowadays, overalls are worn to make a fashion statement and are universal for both men and women. Popular designs on denim overalls today are rips, buttons or a zipper down the middle, floral embroidery, acid wash, plaid and corduroy on overall dresses.
Overalls are the perfect fashion piece for when you want to dress something up or down. You can wear a basic tee with them or you can wear a busy, flowy shirt with a pop of color. You can dress them down by wearing sneakers or dress them up by wearing heels or sandals. Overalls can be found at T.J. Maxx, Forever 21, H&M, American Eagle, Walmart, Target and in Milford at More For Less.
“They’re a bold fashion statement, and they can add personality to the simplest of outfits,” said junior Abigail Babitz.
Whatever way you wear overalls, you cannot go wrong. So make sure the next time you are shopping for clothes, you pick up a pair of overalls!
