Ford to Testify

Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, has committed to testifying in an open hearing on Thursday in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Kavanaugh, who has denied the allegations and still has the support of President Trump, will offer his own testimony in response to Ford's testimony. Kavanaugh's fate as the nominee might be sealed as other accusations of sexual misconduct have now come to light.

Green Cards Denial?

President Trump and White House officials have proposed a new set of rules that could deny green cards to legal immigrants who receive public benefits. The plan is in response to what the administration believes is a drain on the economy when immigrants use use programs such as food stamp, housing vouchers, and Medicare subsidies. The measure, if introduced, faces multiple court challenges.

Beto vs. Ted Goes Social

The race for the Senate seat in Texas is heating up. Once thought to be a shoe-in for re-election, Republican Ted Cruz is facing a tough challenge from his Democratic challenger, Beto O'Rourke. After polls showed the race tightening up, Cruz posted a tweet accusing O'Rourke of comparing police officers to a modern day Jim Crow and also claimed O'Rourke will ban BBQ for tofu in Texas effectively turning the state into another California. Texas hasn't sent a Democrat to the Senate in 30 years.
