Day 1
We arrived in Punta Cana at about 10:30 A.M. after a three-and-a-half-hour flight. When we arrive, we go through all the security measures. Immigration, regular security, baggage claim, etc. We get our ride to Dreams Punta Cana. When we arrived and tried to get checked in, the woman at the front desk said we couldn’t get into our rooms for 3 hours. It was about 100 degrees and we were in jeans. We took our stuff we did have (mainly our carry ons since they took our suitcases) and walked around the resort. When we finally got into our room, we changed and went swimming in the pool till it closed. We went to dinner at the steak house in the resort. Then, went to our room to sleep.
Day 2
We woke up and automatically went to breakfast. They had everything! There was a bread section (which had a ton of different roles, cookies, toast, etc.), a grill section (sausages, bacon, etc.) waffles, French toast, and pancakes area, and more. After we ate, we changed and went to the beach. It was beautiful. I ended getting a horrible sunburn (chest and shoulders were beat red) but it was worth it.
Day 3
We had to wake up early and go to breakfast since we had to leave at 8:40 for our excursion today. It is called Reef Explorer! It involves power snorkeling, swimming with the sharks and sting rays (don’t worry! The sharks are vegetarians and the stingers have been removed from the rays), massages, paddle boarding, and ocean kayaks. Sadly, we couldn’t do much. The waves were too choppy to even try and stand on a paddle board or try an ocean kayak. (trust me. I tried the kayak at the resort. I got flipped right out of it and got a brush burn on my leg). We snorkeled for a while and touched the sting ray (they are a mix and slimy and soft. It’s weird.) before we got our massages. After we got our massages, however, they took us outside the net. We quickly regretted our decision going along since the waves kept slamming us into the net. The waves were way too rough to do it. My dad and I ended up swimming ahead so we could get back and we could breathe again. All of us felt that for the days coming. Overall, wouldn’t recommend the excursion.
Day 4
We stayed in the room for most of the morning. My mom didn’t feel good and all of us were really swore from the “almost being killed by waves” situation the day before. Eventually, we went and ate breakfast. We went back to the room and chilled again for a little bit before heading to the pool. We stayed there for a while before going to get lunch and just walking around for a bit. I went to the Teen Club there and played pool with one of the workers. Sadly, there weren’t many teens there the entire week. At least I made one friend! We eventually headed down to the beach and took pictures. It is so beautiful.
Day 5
We had our normal morning breakfast and went to the beach today. The wind had blown the waves all around so it was really high waves. It was hard to swim but it was fun messing around in the waves. Around noon, we went and ate lunch before going to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. That evening, we walked around and I stayed in the room while my parents got massages at the spa. When they came back, we hung out for a bit before going to sleep.
Day 6
Our last full day! It was sad but we kept on going. We went on a shopping tour and bought souvenirs. I bought a shirt, water bottle, bracelet, and a small drum for my nephew. There was a chocolate factory there and we went into that. I ended up getting a dark chocolate bar and we went back to the hotel. We decided to go for one last swim in the ocean and the pool. The ocean was choppy today but not huge waves like the day before. We went to the beach for sunset and there was a wedding reception on the beach. They played great music! I was dancing around like a maniac.
Day 7
My mom had us get up at 5:30 this morning. We went down to the beach and she got pictures of the sunrise. We went to breakfast and got out stuff around before going to get our ride to the airport. We got the airport and went through everything. We got on the plane and we all passed out. We were all exhausted from the week and from getting up so early. After our flight, we got the shuttle to our car and began our 4 hour ride home. During our drive home, we came across an accident! The car was on fire! It was cool, actually. Not so cool for whoever’s car it was. We went to the store quickly before heading home. Goodnight and goodbye Punta Cana, DR.
