Students across the nation participated in the National School Walkout day on the 19th anniversary of the Columbine shooting. Pittsburgh Public Schools students walked out of their building at 10:24 a.m. and marched together to Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh. Marching students let their voices be heard and chanted as they walked through the streets of Pittsburgh. “We are united, and will never be divided,” they yelled for all to hear. Supporters for the students came to watch the young men and women send their message to America that they want change.
The students talked about their wishes for better gun control in the U.S. They wish to be able to go to school without fear of being attacked. Protesters called out the NRA and anyone who stands in their way of having their freedoms protected within the halls of a place of learning.
Throughout the United States, students are showing that together their voice is an unstoppable force, and will stop at nothing to let it be heard. Like many protest movements in the past, this is one that is going to grow larger and larger as time progresses. Students will serve as role models for more students to join the fight.
