On April 8th, 2018 the National Honor Society along with the National Junior Honor Society participated in Springfest. At Springfest there were many stations for children to visit to have fun while being educated. The station that I assisted in running was reading a book and doing a craft. As the children would come to the station they would sit down and listen to a book first. We read The Mixed-Up Chameleon by Eric Carle to them and then started a craft. The craft entailed receiving an outline of a chameleon and then using glue and tissue paper pieces to color it in. The children enjoyed making their chameleon’s very unique and no two were the same like the book stated to them. The station was rather educational to the children in teaching them that everyone is different and that it’s okay to be. Not only did the children have a great time, but I did as well, teaching them many new things and helping them make their crafts. I even made a craft myself at the end and learned the same lesson as the children. Springfest was a huge hit and I can’t wait until the next one.
