This school year has been a year of firsts for me. Not only did I join my first extracurricular activity, I also started one. With the help of Mrs. Hund and Mrs. Lightner, Serina Tressler and I founded EJ’s first book club. The club has taught me a lot. I have learned to take a leader position and delegate responsibilities as the year progressed. The club inspired me to try new things and adapt. It has been a great experience watching the club grow and seeing members participate. I have been given a chance to leave a legacy worthwhile here at EJ, and I hope the club prospers for many more years.

When Hannah jokingly mentioned starting a book club to me last year, I never expected anything to come of it. What happened afterwards was a journey full of emails and brainstorm sessions that ultimately led to the formation of an actual club. This impossible dream has made me realize a lot of things, one of which is that nothing’s impossible if you put in the time to make it a success. I’ve also learned that making friends outside your normal circles can lead to really fulfilling relationships and that nothing can break the bond of shared passion over a subject. I want nothing more than for this club to bring joy to everyone it touches and leave people with the same satisfaction I feel after every meeting.
