The Cornell Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is doing some really exciting things this year. Everything from raising money for charity to raising awareness about the LGBT community and LGBT issues. The GSA is a safe environment for anyone dealing with hate against their sexuality or gender identity. The meetings are a place where you can feel safe and confident with who you are, regardless of what you identify as.
Some activities that the GSA has done in the past include having a toiletries drive and donating the toiletries to a homeless shelter for LGBT teens who have been kicked out of their homes called Proud Haven, and a bake sale where all the money made went to the Human rights Campaign (HRC). Some things that the GSA are planning to do this year include handing out bracelets to people in the school to try and encourage students to have a more positive and accepting attitude towards the LGBT community as well as we are going to begin collecting toiletries for Proud Haven again.
Meetings for the GSA are every Wednesday in the library during lunch, so if you are interested, come down and join the club.
