MALALA GOES HOME
In an emotional visit, Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai returned to her hometown for the first time since the Taliban tried to kill her in 2012.
Malala met with old schoolmates and relatives at her family house in Mingora. She remained under heavy security during the visit, but told the students and friends that came to greet her, “I wish to be in Swat, to be among you and serve you. It is still like a dream for me to be among you.”

READY PLAYER ONE IS NUMBER ONE
Director Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One ruled the box office this weekend with impressive numbers. The adaptation of the popular dystopian YA novel earned $181.3 million worldwide so far, including $20 million in IMAX. It looks to have great staying power in China, which should push its overall box office take higher in the weeks to come.

TURMOIL IN GAZA
More than 30,000 Palestinians gathered along Gaza’s border with Israel venting anger and frustration in a protest that ended with Israeli forces killing 15 people. The original protest was supposed to be a non-violent six-week sit-in with the intention of bringing awareness to Israel’s occupation and resettlement of the Gaza Strip.
