Margaret Edwards PMEA Festivals

East Juniata's own Margaret Edwards has made her mark on several PMEA festivals so far this year participating in District Chorus, District Jazz, and District Orchestra, Regional Chorus, and Regional Orchestra. She recently made it to All State Vocal Jazz. Edwards has been practicing tirelessly while trying to manage the musical, church activities, and in school activities. She swears by a good cup of tea and a lot of sleep to get her through her hectic schedule. Her great work ethic combined with her positive attitude also contributes to her great success. Chloe Dressler has recently sat down with her and talked about her PMEA experiences.

In District Chorus Margaret was losing her voice, but that didn’t stop her from getting fourth chair. Edwards auditioned for a solo in the song “My Favorite Things” and received it. For her District Jazz experience she was first trombone in her band. At one point her director pointed to her for her to take a trombone solo, but instead she stood up and sang. She then sang this in the concert as well. In District Orchestra, Edwards was very nervous since she was not confident with her violin skills, but she ended up getting into regionals. Regional Chorus was very fun for Edwards because she didn’t have to worry about not getting into states, since she already excelled that. She also had an Australian conductor that she enjoyed. The Regional Orchestra festival was held on Edwards birthday in Sharon, four hours away. This was a very stress free festival and she really enjoyed the music. In April Edwards will be attending All State Vocal Jazz, in which she is very excited for. This is a huge accomplishment for Edwards, being the only person ever to make it into All State Vocal Jazz from East Juniata High School.
