In my AP English class, we were given an assignment to create something; be it a movie, a game, or most anything else; relating to a piece of literature we read and discussed during the semester. Personally, I chose to create a digital painting depicting Ophelia, a character from Hamlet. In the story (SPOILER ALERT), she dies by drowning. As you can see in the painting, she is pale and her face is in anguish rather than peaceful. Additionally, her pale blue dress flows with the water, showing she is submerged and dissipating, both literally and figuratively. With this painting, I wanted to capture these two main points: Ophelia died in a state of sorrow and disparity, and she drowned both literally within the cold river and figuratively within her feelings and emotions. With some thought and inspiration from various pictures and eight hours later, I finished this painting.
