It is with great pleasure that I introduce Ryan Murphy as Newfield High School’s December Student of the Month. Ryan is a phenomenal young man who is destined to be a great leader! Not only is Ryan an academic success, he is also a powerhouse when it comes to his service and volunteer work. He has dedicated countless hours to community service by participating as a SPARTAN vocalist at Maryhaven, local nursing homes, and our local fire departments’ annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremonies.
In addition to this, Ryan has been paramount to the success of Newfield High School’s Fall and Spring Annual Blood Drives. He has dedicated his time as a key organizer and manager of the blood drive for the past four years. Ryan has also dedicated countless hours as a religious education teaching assistant.
Ryan is currently our G.O. Historian. In speaking with Mr. Graviano, Ryan expressed that his love for photography and capturing poignant moments began when he received his very first camera, a blue Vivitar flip screen, back in the 6###sup/sup### grade. He sure did think he was the coolest kid! Ryan, you truly are the coolest. Your teachers certainly think so!
His art teacher, Mr. Beretta, said, “Ryan wants to do anything he can to help in the classroom!” His Italian teacher, Mr. Bellon, raves, “Ryan is an amazing young man who is always very upbeat and enthusiastic.” Our G.O. advisor, Ms. Zanfini, states, “Ryan is an essential part of G.O.! He is at every event, helping in any way that he can. His positive attitude is refreshing and infectious!”
Ryan credits his family for inspiring him to excel in all areas of his life. He looks to his older brother Jake as a role model. Of his brother, Ryan states, “Jake is always there for me and he fills me with pride.”
Ryan is currently interested in studying photography upon entering college. He is interested in attending SUNY Purchase, New Paltz, Buffalo, or LIU. I have no doubt in my mind that wherever you choose to go, you will be very successful. Thank you for all of your service to our local and school community. Keep up the great work! Congratulations on a job well done!
