Envirothon, Computer Club and Mock Trial are all clubs that the high school gives us the opportunity to join and help us with our college applications.
“Any club supports a college application, “said Maricatherine Garr, advisor of Envirothon, via e-mail interview. “Dedication and commitment to the club of one’s choosing is far more important than the topic of the club.”
Although students may join a club because they are interested in the topic, they don’t have to do something with that topic in your future career. Such as joining Envirothon, students don't have to have a career in environmental agencies, but this club will still be great to add to a resume for college because it shows one is involved in extracurricular activities at school.
“I believe that any club will look good on a college application and prepare you for your future.” said Melissa Rushak, advisor of Computer Club.
In Computer Club students expand their knowledge of computers and create projects that they can use to compete with against other schools. This club will benefit your college application since they have further knowledge of computers and will also prepare one for their future career that may call for the use of computers.
“Mock Trial teaches you to act under pressure and how to argue. It also has acting benefits since students act out the parts of the witnesses.” said Jacqueline Ludka, advisor of Mock Trial.
Clubs not only prepare for future jobs, but teach skills that will benefit one in life. Mock Trial is an example of this. Mock Trial is where a group of students practice the parts of lawyers and witnesses, and put on a fake court case competing against other schools. There are two competitions throughout the year.
Clubs not only prepare you for colleges and future careers, but also create a well-rounded person.
