On December 28th, Mr. and Mrs. Croissette, Mr. Shoop, Kayla Forry and Carly Beaver met to begin adding color and creativity to the white walls at EJ. First, we came up with a cool design we would be able to accomplish. The hardest part was taping up the lines so we knew where we needed to paint and to keep the paint from getting on anything else. After double checking our measurements and the straightness of our lines, we were able to start painting.
We were going to use a total of three colors by the time we were done, but we needed to paint everything with a coat of gray for a base. Once that first coat of gray was done, we decided we didn’t need a second coat and it was time to add the maroon where we needed. The maroon took two coats of paint before it was ready. Once we finished painting that, we needed to wait until it was completely dry. While waiting for the paint to dry, we needed to turn our sponges into a paw print shape. Once the paint was dry, we removed the tape and it was time to get the black paint out. We took turns climbing up and down the ladder adding the paw prints over top of the gray and maroon.
Though we had a long time from arriving at 9:00 and leaving around 2:00, the hard work was worth it in the end because it looks great! We hope to keep adding to what we did and help add more school spirit to the hallways!
