Childers’ Buzzer Beater Sinks Bulldogs, Moves Raiders into 2nd Place
Raider basketball swept the Thomasville Bulldogs last night, with wins by the JV boys, varsity boys and varsity girls. The night was highlighted by a game-winning 3-pointer by Raider guard Connor Childers, lifting the Raiders to a dramatic victory.
“Dillon got the rebound…passed it to Bailey, and he drove in and everybody collapsed on him. He found me on the wing and I was just able to knock down the shot”, said Childers on the final shot.
Tyrese Shaver and Zach Powers led the Raider attack, each contributing a double-double. Powers dominated in the paint on both ends, with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks. “We just had to start rebounding…work inside out, and just knock down shots”, Powers said when asked about halftime adjustments.
Bailey Graham chipped in 15 as well, including two dunks and the assist to Childers on the final play. “ I knew it was going in when it left his hands”, said Graham. Childers gave the Bulldogs trouble all night from beyond the arc, knocking down four 3’s en route to a 14 point effort.
The win elevates the Raiders to second place in the Conference, behind only undefeated Salisbury. With their record now sitting at a respectable 3-2, the Raiders hit the road to face off against former Conference rival East Rowan. Come out and support your Raiders!
