Weird Science: Vantablack

Three years ago, artists were stunned by a mysteriously black material that was created by a British company, Surrey Nanosystems.  This material, Vantablack, is the darkest material to exist.  Since this discovery, efforts have only been made to make it even darker.  The latest installment of the material is so dark that when aimed at with a laser pointer, the laser disappears.  Vantablack also appears to the naked eye as an endless void.  This material is made chemically through the alignment of carbon nanotube rays which allow for the material to absorb nearly all incident light.  Widely desired by artists for the mesmerizing qualities that it holds, discrepancies have broken out over who possesses rights over the material.  Artist Anish Kapoor has obtained exclusive rights over Vantablack as a result of being widely admired for his compelling works that focus on the significance of objects.  These exclusive rights pave the way for many new and innovative exhibitions.
