Soccer Wins 4 of 5 to Improve to 4-6-1

St. Joe’s soccer team has won four of its last five games to improve to 4-6-1. To start off the squad’s winning streak, They defeated DePaul Catholic. Captain Brian Sevilla ‘17 scored a late goal to clinch the game. The second game of the winning streak was against Paramus Catholic. The Green Knights were tied 0-0 going into overtime when Gianni Lisa ‘19 scored in the first minute.
The team’s third win of the year came against Rutherford in the first round of the Bergen Cup. SJR went down 1-0 early in the game but were able to rally back
with Zack Almonte ‘17 capitalizing on a penalty kick. The Green Knights forced Rutherford into penalties and were able to come out on top with a crucial save from
Daniel Soter ‘18.
St. Joe’s kept its winning ways going defeating Teaneck 5-0. Four different players scored. On Monday, October 10, the squad faced off against Bergenfield,
holding them to a 1-1 tie throughout most of the game but Bergenfield scored with ten minutes left to play.
The Green Knights play two games this weekend: Saturday, they play Paramus High School in the regular season; Sunday, they play Northern Highlands High School in the quarterfinals of the Bergen County.
