During the first round of states, three goals were scored within eight minutes. They were scored by senior Nolan Hutter, junior Gunnar Graham, and senior Brandon Wagner, which made the score 3 - 1. with an overall record of 18 - 3 - 1.
“It was a huge win for the team to avenge last year’s state playoff loss to Erie Cathedral Prep,” stated Coach Hobbs.
According to Coach Hobbs, there were a lot of great plays, but the best was Nolan Hutter’s 25 yard shot into the goal.
Before acquiring a spot in states, the boys soccer team defeated West Allegheny in the WPIAL Championship. Their only and winning goal was scored by senior Seth Schleicher. Also, according to Coach Hobbs, senior Brian Duggan played very well as goalie.
“For us, winning the WPIAL Championship was everything dreamed of and more,” states Coach Hobbs.
Their next game is Tuesday, November 14 against Lower Dauphin.
“It will be a very tough game,” says Coach Hobbs, “but I think we can upset them.”
