Every Friday, sophomore Dominique Dunn stands in the R-Pod by Mr. Thomas Bailer, Mrs. Chelsea Shatt and Mr. Nick Wisen giving out high fives to people who pass in the hallway.
Dunn has a shirt she made for Fridays, and it says “Happy High Five Friday!! Have A Good Day!!” Throughout the day she gives everyone who passes a high five. In the morning in the cafeteria, she attempts to give everyone a high five as well.
Dunn said, “I started Happy High Five Friday so the day would not be a mess. Everyone would be happy and not sulking to go home.”
Dunn wants to share her positive attitude and brighten the school day by giving out high fives.
In Dunn’s gym class every Friday, they start the class with everyone getting a high five. Mr. James Donnelly, Dunn’s physical education teacher is a huge supporter of Happy High Five Friday.
Mr. Donnelly said “ I like the idea of Happy High Five Friday. It shows a lot of school spirit and genuine good nature towards students.”
No matter where you see Dunn, she always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Dunn enjoys seeing the smiles on peoples’ faces when she gives them a high five.
Mr. Thomas Bailer, a social studies teacher, stands with Dunn giving out high fives in the morning.
Mr. Bailer said, “Dominique started a great thing. I love watching Dom give high fives to everyone. Everyone usually gives her one, and they walk away with a smile on their face.” If you see Dunn on Friday make sure to give her a high five and you can also join the spreading of happiness and give high fives to others.
