DV Hall of Fame: New Inductees

On Oct. 9, the Delaware Valley Hall of Fame inducted four new members, Dr. Suzanne Case, Mr. Kris Holtzer, Dr. Steven Leiser and Mrs. Dauryne Lyn Shaffer.
The new members were recognized for their personal achievements from their post high school careers. They were formally inducted into the Hall of Fame at a banquet held at High Point Country Club on Oct. 9.
The banquet began with Hall of Fame committee member Mr. William Webster welcoming everyone and congratulating the inductees. The inductees and guests were then treated with live entertainment from four members of the DVHS Drama Club: freshman Brooke Greening, sophomore Emily Jacobus, junior Grace Babbits and senior Molly Scollo.
After the entertainment and dinner, Mr. Lou DeLauro made his opening remarks and began with the first induction of Dr. Suzanne Case. She graduated with the class of 1978 and later attended North Carolina State University. In college, she earned her bachelors, masters and Ph.D. degrees specializing in food science. Dr. Case now works with Kraft Foods where she holds a global management position.
Commenting on her induction, Dr. Case said, “The Education I got at Delaware Valley was amazing… it is just such an honor to be acknowledged and be recognized.”
The second person inducted was Mr. Holtzer, who graduated with the class of 1999. Holzter was a skilled basketball player and continued his athletic career at Lock Haven University where he also earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Holtzer returned to DV after he graduated college coach basketball and teach physical education.
The third inductee was Dr. Leiser who graduated with the class of 1994. During high school he was a part of the swim team and environmental club. He went on to attend East Stroudsburg University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Later, he earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Drexel University School of Medicine. The final inductee was Mrs. Shaffer who graduated with the class of 1981. Shaffer attended Wilkes College where she earned her bachelor degree in nursing. She later earned her master’s degree from John Hopkins School of Nursing where she is the nurse educator, Department of Surgery.
