This year’s presidential election has grabbed all of our attention in both the news and all over social media. Both candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are in a gut-wrenching race to become the next president of the United States. According to http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/, Hillary Clinton has an 85.8% chance of winning over Donald Trump’s 14.2% chance. Although it shows that Hillary is soaring over Trump in this election, it wasn’t always like this. Trump had a rather large lead over Hillary briefly in the election before a video of him saying rather inappropriate things about women 10 years ago surfaced. People that had been strong supporters of Trump throughout the entire race withdrew their support and even took to social media to explain how strongly they feel about this leaked video. This includes United States Senator John McCain, Utah representative Jason Chaffetz, Colorado Representative Mike Coffman, and many others. Most of them agree that he should “step down” and allow his running mate Mike Pence to compete against Hillary Clinton. Barbara Comstock states on twitter that, “I cannot in good conscience vote for Trump.”
Since this released video, countless numbers of women have come forward to media networks to tell their personal stories of sexual assault as well as women who claim Donald Trump sexually assaulted them. According to the Huffington Post, women such as Karena Virginia, Cathy Heller, Summer Zervos, Kristian Anderson, Jessica Leeds, Rachel Crooks, Mindy McGillivray, Natasha Stoynoff, Jennifer Murphy, Jill Harth, and even Trump’s first wife Ivana Trump have reported sexual assault by Trump as early as the 1980’s and as recent as 2013.
People are completely torn between the two nominees for president with common saying, “One is a liar and one is a sexist pig.” The ending to this presidential election could not come sooner for most of the American people and even people outside of the country who are tired of reading and hearing about it. Who do you want to vote for? The “liar” or the “sexists pig?”
