On Friday, October 27, 2017, the annual Trunk or Treat was held at the Lion’s Den in McAlisterville. This is an event in which kids from around the community can trick or treat in a fun, safe environment. Cars line up and open their trunks full of candy, and the kids walk through. My fellow National Honor Society member, Zach Fogle, and I set up our car and awaited the beginning of the event. It was a great turnout, as hundreds of costumed kids arrived, eager to fill up their bags. Zach and I came prepared, as we donned masks and had an ample supply of candy. It was unique to see the diverse range of costumes, as well as their reactions to our masks. As some of the younger kids came to receive candy from our car, they were sometimes hesitant to walk up to us to get candy. When we saw a child that was not sure about walking up to us we would take off our masks to show them that they could trust us and did not have to be nervous. The kids cycled through, and we gave out so much candy. The night was a success, as the community was able to come together for a fun night of Halloween trick or treating!
