On Friday, October 14th, Wellsboro had their homecoming football game against Montgomery. This game ended in a striking crush of Montgomery. 62-6 was the total score. This is the school’s eighth straight victory. Within the first few minutes of the first quarter, the Hornets had already scored seven points. Junior Dalton Prough intercepted the other team’s attempt at a pass, and senior Jacob Singer earned extra points by a kick off. Thus earning us the first seven points.
It was the second quarter and it seemed as if the score would never move from 14-0. Then at 11:08, junior Chase Moser ran the ball 72 yards to make the score 22-0. Wellsboro only tried four passes throughout the night with Juniors Quinn Henry (Three yards), and Brent English (Five yards). The final touchdown came at 5:52 minutes remaining in the entire game. Junior Brent English who threw the ball in from five yards out, after senior Brody Coolidge got Wellsboro into scoring position on a 30 yard run.
Next Wellsboro will have to endure two weeks in Wyalusing, and North Penn-Mansfield. That will decide the NTL large school division. Make sure you come and support them! Senior Parker Jones says, “I was fairly pleased about the game. I wish we could’ve played a full game, but we gotta be fair to the other team.”
