My issue with the early wake up times for school

I really disagree with the time that common public schools start. I live approximately 45 minutes away from my high school and waking up at 5:00am every school day is definitely not my favorite part of school. My school is very club oriented so every teacher recommends that every student does a club or extracurricular activity. That means that from 5:00am to at least 5:00pm has me awake and continuously using my brain. If you do a sport, you have to stay another hour after school because practice is very long for all the school sports. This means that you are awake for at least 13 hours. Many people in my grade (and even younger) already have jobs to make their own money and start adding to their resumé. Let’s say that ends at around 7pm (like me). That means that (if you live 30 minutes between your job and your house like me) you wouldn’t be getting home until about 7:30. THEN, you need to do all your school work from your classes which usually takes me about an hour to complete. After that, you need to eat dinner and probably do some chores (depending on how chill your parents are) which would take another 45 minutes. Then, you have to shower and get ready for bed by around 10:00. There is no room for relaxing and decompressing from your busy day. As teenagers, we need time to relax, to calm down from the day to keep from going insane. These full agendas should feel like important responsibilities, not like a prison sentence that drains you of all your energy.
